Free zones such as Abu Dhabi Global Market on Al Maryah Island or Masdar City Free Zone offer 100% foreign ownership and streamlined setup, but typically restrict direct trading on the UAE mainland without a local distributor or additional licensing.

Which to choose
If your business will trade primarily within the UAE mainland, a mainland office is usually simpler. If you're a financial services, fintech, or international business, ADGM or another free zone may offer more relevant licensing and regulatory benefits.
